Where We Paddle
Based in Bar Harbor, the largest town on Mount Desert Island, Coastal Kayaking Tours is the only outfitter that regularly runs tours on both the east and west sides of the island. With Acadia National
Park as a backdrop, we offer the finest sea kayaking venues on the entire Atlantic Coast. It's almost too pretty to imagine – until you see it for yourself from the unique perspective of a sea kayak.
All our day tours are paddled in the waters surrounding Mount Desert Island, and the advantage to kayaking with Coastal is that we offer you a choice of trip locations. We paddle most often among the ruggedly beautiful Porcupine Islands
of Frenchman Bay, the body of water where Bar Harbor is located. But we also offer daily trips to Blue Hill Bay on the western side of the island, where a more serene and relaxed beauty awaits you.
You'll delight not only in the spectacular scenery but the variety of wildlife we often see – harbor seals; porpoises; birdlife of all kinds, including bald eagles, osprey and black guillemots. Of course, we can't guarantee
you'll see all of them on every trip, but sightings of various kinds are a regular occurrence.
Our multi-day trips are staged in a variety of locations, from the western edge of Penobscot Bay to the waters off Jonesport, about halfway between Bar
Harbor and the Canadian border.
Wherever your trip takes place, brace yourself for an exhilarating experience, and don't forget to bring your camera!
