It is really important to have properly sized tires for your e-bikes when you roll onto the carriage roads.
Tires that are too narrow will bite into the surface, making it difficult to ride. Tires that are too wide (often known as “fat-tire bikes”) cause too much bounce and jostle, making for a rattled-teeth experience.

Choose Your E-Bike:
- Electric Bikes (E-Bikes): Easy-to-use Class I pedal-assist bikes with high-capacity batteries, ideal for exploring Acadia’s Carriage Roads and Park Loop Road.
- We rent premium e-bikes from brands like Cannondale, chosen specifically for the carriage roads thanks to their power, reliability, and comfort.
Gear Up and Go:
- Free helmets come with every rental—safety first. Helmets are required for E-Bike rentals.
- Ride 1.7 miles directly to Acadia’s Carriage Roads from our shop at 106 Cottage St in Bar Harbor.
- If you rented any accessories, our bike mechanics will attach those before they send you off.

Electric Bike Rental Requirements
- If a rider is under the age of 18, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. (Proof of age is required.)
- *We reserve the right to cancel a reservation at our discretion if we are not convinced that you are able to safely ride an e-bike. Should we exercise this right, a full refund will be given for that rider only.
- You must be able to ride a bike. These are class I pedal assist bikes, but they do require pedaling from the rider.
- E-Bikes must be ridden directly from Acadia Outfitters at 106 Cottage Street. They may not be transported (this includes in or on vehicles, trailers, or bike racks).
- If you are renting for more than one day, E-Bikes must be returned at the end of each day for proper maintenance and battery charging.
- Our Electric Bikes suit people whose heights range from 4’10”- 6’6″ (149-178 cm). If you are outside of this height range, please give us a call at (207) 801-9086 before making a reservation.
- E-Bike rentals are rain or shine.
Competitive Pricing

- Full Day (9am–5pm): $99
- Half Day (walk-in only): $65
- Child trailers ($26 with a reservation, $29 for a walk-in) are the only child attachments that are compatible with our E-Bikes. Trailers are for children from 1-6 years old and up to 65 pounds.
- Rear Rack w/ Bungee: (for back of bike) $4
- Rear Rack w/ Pack: (for back of bike) $8
- Reservations are recommended, but we do take walk-ins based on availability. We have a few E-Bikes set aside for half-day rentals, but beyond those few, E-Bike reservations are for full-days only.
- E-Bike Rentals are picked up from our downtown location at Acadia Outfitters at 106 Cottage Street.
- In case of flat tires or mechanical difficulties, we have a service team on duty all day.
- All riders must have an Acadia National Park pass. One vehicle pass covers up to 4 riders on bikes.
- Do not put bikes in the back of your vehicle. This may cause damage to the bikes and we do not want you to have to pay additional fees. E-Bikes must be ridden from our downtown shop location.
