Ride Our 21-Speed Conventional Bikes Around the Famous Carriage Roads While Learning About the Park’s History and Ecology from an Acadia National Park Ranger!
Here’s How It Works:
Book Your Tour
- July & August: Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:00 A.M.
- June 17th-30th, September 1st-October 15th: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 to 11:00 A.M
Enjoy the Ride
- Cover around 6 miles of Carriage Roads in 2.5 hours with regular stops for ranger commentary.
- Then, either return your bike to the starting point at the Visitor Center or keep your bike for the rest of the day to continue exploring on your own.
Return your bike
- Either return your bike to the same place you picked it up at the Visitor Center, or feel free to keep it through the end of the day.
- If you decide to keep your bikes after the tour is over, you must return them to our shop at 48 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, by 5:00 P.M.

Ranger Led Bike Tours
2.5-hour tours—$69 per person
This 2.5-hour tour covers about 6 miles and includes frequent stops for commentary from the ranger. Ride our 21-speed comfort bikes through the famous carriage roads of Acadia National Park while learning more about the park’s history and ecology.
- Tour Schedule: July & August – Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:00 A.M. | September through October 15th – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 to 11:00 A.M.
- Starting Point: The tour begins and ends at the far right corner of the parking lot of the Hulls Cove Visitor Center at 25 Visitor Center Drive, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609.
- Tour Cost: $69 per person, including the use of bikes for the remainder of the day. (Make sure to bring your Acadia National Park pass. If you do not have one, you can purchase one here. One vehicle pass will cover 4 people on bikes.)
- Cancellation Policy: The cancellation policy is one week in advance due to the tour’s popularity. If you cancel outside of the cancellation window, you will not receive a refund.
- Rider Requirements: All riders should be able to confidently ride a bike.
- Child Trailers and Seats: Child trailers are not available for this tour; however, we offer the option of child seats for babies and toddlers up to 25 pounds. Make sure to reserve a spot for the child as well when booking.
- Terrain: Mount Desert Island is mountainous, so there are hills on this route. The hills are manageable, but please note there’s rolling terrain throughout the tour.
- Bike Return: If keeping bikes through the end of the day, they must be dropped back off at our bike shop, located at 48 Cottage Street in Bar Harbor, by 5:00 P.M.
- ***Because of this tour’s early meet and start times, if you’re coming to Bar Harbor on a cruise ship, it’s not feasible to be able to tender in and get transportation to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center in time. We recommend those coming off a cruise ship to rent bikes from our downtown location at 48 Cottage Street.***
Private Bike Tours
Our private biking tours offer an experience in Acadia like no other! With our high-quality bikes, equipment, and guides, we can give you the opportunity to witness the scenery of the park with a tour specially catered to you. All you have to do is let us know how many of your tribe will be and how long you want to spend on the carriage roads. We will take care of the rest.
